Time warp! SMX West is next week already, and we can barely control our excitement for this year’s conference in sunny San Jose. With a busy schedule planned, aimClear will be speaking, attending, blogging, live-tweeting, mingling, and taking every precaution to make sure we share as much coverage as possible from the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. From Monday, February 27 through Thursday, March 1, we’ll be digging for search marketing gold while aimClear’s own Marty Weintraub, Merry Morud, and Manny Rivas take the stage to share thought-leadership goodness. Dennis Goedegebuure, VP of Internet Marketing at Geeknet Inc., is an all-around SEO superdude. His current chief professional responsibility is to drive massive traffic to a variety of sites with fabulous names the likes of Slashdot, Sourceforge and Freshmeat. Prior to Geeknet, Dennis was on the eBay team for nearly a decade, donning various online marketing hats, ultimately crowned Director Global SEO. Dennis is steeped in organic search engine optimization on an international landscape to boot, from the Netherlands to sunny San Francisco.
On a personal note, he is a self-proclaimed addict of Innovation, Blogging, Chocolate, Travel and the Interwebs. (And on a tasting note, this combination pairs well with Sauternes.)
Dennis will take the stage next week at #SMX West to talk Schema.org, Rel=Author & Meta Tagging Best Practices. Prior to his presentation, aimClear stole some time for a candid Q&A with Mr. G, who had much to share on his background, SEO takeaways from working in an enterprise-level environment, and tactics to avoid a Panda rank-spank. We also gabbed about astrology and dessert wines. Read on for the full effect. Read the rest of this entry »

“Recommended by 4 out of 5 people that recommend things.” Says so right in his Twitter bio. That should be all you need to know about
Todd Friesen, right? Well, let’s dig a bit deeper.
Who is Todd Friesen? He’s an SEO strategist, consultant, and straight up pioneer, kicking it in cyberspace for well over a decade. He’s a familiar face at mainstream online marketing conferences and known in the far reaches of the Interwebz by one truly enigmatic alias, Oilman. He likes cats and beer, but it is yet to be seen in which order.
Todd’s worked with some A-list brands, most formerly as Director of SEO at
Performics. He’s also been on the rosters at Webmasterworld.com and Search Engine Watch Forums as former administrator and moderator, respectively. If you’re heading to
SMX West in a couple weeks, you’ll find him there, set to take the stage for
Ask The SEOs – Open Q&A Forum on Day 3. Prior to the conference, aimClear had the fun opportunity to share a virtual fireside chat with Oilman himself.
Read on for full roundup of our titillating Q&A.

Lookadoo. Does a groovier last name exist? Studies* show that four out of five marketers don’t believe it’s a real surname at first- convinced instead it’s some cutting-edge, clever brand alias thought up by a Mad-Men-tastic team on the top floor of a swank skyscraper. She once explained to me at a networking event in Vegas “Lookadoo’s” pretty righteous cultural origins (thereby convincing me of its authenticity), but I’m ashamed to say I sort of forgot the details. Had I chosen to imbibe in her trademark SEO Insights Seltzer rather than red wine, perhaps I would have retained such valuable information.
If you’ve ever met Dana Lookadoo, heard her speak at a conference, or even just followed along with the stream of rockstar industry resources she tweets daily, you probably don’t need any convincing of her dedication to and understanding of the online marketing community. She’s equal parts sweet, smart, and sass- a trifecta that’s served her well as founder of Yo! Yo! SEO, a boutique agency focused on Word-of-Mouth SEO. With sixteen years of professional experience in the Internet industry and nearly half of that centered on e-Commerce site dev and full-on SEO, Dana’s a force to be reckoned with in the world. Wide…. Web…
Just a few weeks outside of #SMX West, aimClear had a fun, albeit figurative, sit-down with Dana to discuss, among other things, her upcoming Day-3 presentation on SEO Essentials For Migrating Websites. We also happened to chat about social media faux pas, tweet tips, and exotic animals, if you must know. Interest piqued? Read on for the full effect. Read the rest of this entry »

If you’ve spent any serious time on the search marketing conference circuit, you’re no doubt familiar with Heather Lloyd-Martin. Maybe you saw a flash of her signature red hair when you poked your head in the Speakers’ Room, or watched as she dazzled crowds, trading hats from lively moderator to panelist to presenter (averaging 327 words per minute)… or perhaps you even hung out and talked shop together at some fabulous networking event. Whatever the context – you know her, or at least of her – and if you plan to hit up any cherished SEM gatherings in the future, odds are you’ll find her there.
But like many industry rockstars, Heather’s work goes well beyond that which she puts into speaking gigs and PowerPoint decks. She’s an accomplished author and SEO copywriting pioneer with well over a decade of professional experience under her belt. SuccessWorks, Heather’s SEO copywriting firm, cross-trains in-house copywriters from companies of all sizes and types– Fortune 50 retailers to travel destination sites. A keen focus on leveraging strategic content to increase online visibility makes the SuccessWorks team one-two-punch-tastic.
On the advent of SMX West, aimClear had the pleasure of sharing a candid Q&A with the lovely Ms. Lloyd-Martin, who will take the stage on Day 3 to discuss The “New” Killer Content. Our interview topics ranged from “Hi, who are you?” to Google Search Plus Your World (SYYW) to must-have online tools to amphibious childhood memories. Read on for the full scoop.
