Obama’s YouTube Ads… On Scarlett Johansson Nude Pictures?

Obama for America’s team, or some troublemaker, is buying YouTube InStream pre-roll ads on a video featuring nude pictures of Scarlett Johansson. The President’s paid “follow-me” pitch introduces soft-porn.  This is a classic example of what can happen when demographic targeting is not carefully conceived and channels properly vetted.

Revenue from YouTube InStream ads is shared with the video’s publisher, so a percentage of every dollar Mr. Obama spends functionally subsidizes celebrity hacker-porn. Google, owner of YouTube, is the middleman. Read the rest of this entry »

Facebook Military & Congressional Gays Who Do Ask & Tell

Facebook American Military employees openly disclose sexuality to advertisers. So do United States Congressional employees.

Many folks, on both sides of the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” debate, most likely feel strongly in light of today’s Senate decision a step towards repealing the long-controversial American Military policy on homosexuals.  We’ve been tracking the conversation in Facebook. Is anybody surprised that American military employees already share their sexuality on Facebook, openly enough for Facebook Ads to categorize them as same-sex oriented on the Facebook social graph. Just to prove that we shouldn’t say “Facebook” and anonymity in the same sentence. These numbers plain and simple don’t lie.

Here’s data profiling Facebook users “interested” in Lesbians, weed and those who (ummm…) love their feet in the UK.  Don’t eat them all at once.  (Disclaimer: We’re not passing judgment so please don’t kill the messenger. Ours is just to report the facts mam.)
