Thanks for the clarification Debra, I've updated the post. I really dug your presentation and undoubtedly took away several of the conceptual and functional tactics for directories and finding journalists. I hope to see you speak again, The Linkspiel was instrumental in my formation (ongoing) as a search marketer.

Thank you for writing up our session Matt, appreciate it. Just a point of clarification.

Regarding what you wrote here: "Debra remarks that “adsense is the scourge of the internet”. Having Adsense on your page will deter you from receiving directory listings."

While you got the Adsense comment right, the second sentence is skewed a bit. What I said was, when directories host more adsense ads than listings, you should not pay to submit to them. You're paying to be listed on a relevant page, and shouldn't have to compete with adsense. If you look at the better directories I listed (BOTW, Massive Links, Ezilon etc) you'll see these folks don't use adsense as content.

Thanks for letting me clarifiy. And so you know, there was a lot of under-the-table-knee-kicking going on while we were up there, fist-fighting is so 2003. ;)
